My name is Dan Kaggelis and I am a passionate recreational fishermen living on the Northern Beaches of Cairns in Far North Queensland. I have been fishing since the age of two and have been fortunate enough to fish every part of Australia and most destinations across the world. Fishing for me is not a hobby but a lifestyle and much of my life is devoted to recreational fishing and the recreational fishing industry. Not only have I been an avid print and digital media fishing journalist for the last 15 years, contributing to a number of publications, I also hold the heavy burden of being one of two recreational fishing representatives on the Department of Fisheries Coral Reef Line Fisheries Advisory Team which is solely responsible for settling rec and commercial bag limits and quotas and the development of harvest strategies to ensure the sustainability of our fishery along the East Coast of Australia.

I am fortunate that I have one of the most diverse fisheries on my doorstep which enables me to be out off the Great Barrier Reef one day and the next be half way up a mountain stream in world heritage rain forest. With such a passion for fishing I only use the best equipment and that is why I love my Minn Kota and Humminbird gear so much. There is no substitute for this gear and I wouldn’t fish without my Minn Kota Bow Mount or Humminbird sounders. They are a huge factor in my fishing success an give me the confidence and ability to not only find fish but to fish them so effectively.
