• State:
    Coromandel, New Zealand
  • Occupation:
Kayak Fishing Angler, Guide, Writer, Videographer and Artist
  • Why I Use Humminbird:
The kayak is well known for placing any equipment used in some of the most extreme conditions and Humminbird has proven itself during time on the ocean. My choice is the Humminbird 798 because its features give me the edge offering outstanding images allowing much clearer insights into the underwater environment.
  • Targeted Species:
Snapper, Yellow Tail Kingfish, Kahawai, Trevally, Grouper, Marlin and more
  • Fishing Highlights:
    1. Landing a snapper over 10kg on light line in just 6 metres of water using a softbait. 2. Getting towed around on the kayak for 20 minutes while hooked up to a 25kg yellowtail kingfish in very shallow water. 3. Tackling monster kingfish while kayak fishing at the Three Kings Islands in 2012.
  • Favourite Locations:
Coromandel, Great Barrier Island and the far north region of New Zealand
  • Most Memorable Capture:
My favourite screen shot so far from the Humminbird 798cxi involves using sonar and side imaging during a mechanical jigging session at Great Barrier Island.

The Humminbird 798 gives me the edge and offers outstanding images allowing clearer insights into the underwater environment. Using the GPS/Fish Finder combos during the last seven years has enhanced my fishing experiences to greater levels.
